Terms of use

Plain terms for using this site and its free tools.

Information, not legal advice

The contract checker, guides and research are general information. The checker looks for common patterns in text and can miss problems or flag clauses that are fine in context. It is not legal advice and does not create a lawyer–client or any other professional relationship. For decisions that matter, talk to a qualified lawyer where you live.

Research and published facts

Our research reports aggregate what businesses publish on their own websites, read on the date stated. We do not publish findings about individual agencies in our research. If you believe something we publish is inaccurate, write to hello@aboveboardstandard.com and we will review it promptly and correct factual errors.

The seal and certification

A seal reflects the result of an audit against the version of the standard in force on the audit date, and only for the company named in its record. It is not a guarantee of future conduct, earnings or results. Holders must follow the seal rules. Using the Above Board name or seal to suggest a certification you don't hold is not permitted.

Using the site

You may use and share the site and the standard for any lawful purpose. Please don't attempt to disrupt the site, misrepresent our findings, or present yourself as certified when you are not.

No warranty

The site and its free tools are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We work to keep them accurate and available but can't promise they are error-free or always online.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, Above Board is not liable for losses arising from use of the free tools or reliance on general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
